Best Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) Tariffs 2026: Octopus Flux vs Outgoing vs E.ON Next
How to earn 15p to 29p per kWh exporting surplus solar and battery power to the National Grid, including MCS certificate and smart meter requirements.
The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) legally requires licensed UK electricity suppliers to pay small-scale low-carbon generators for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) exported to the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) grid. All domestic SEG export income is 100% exempt from UK Income Tax.
Leading 2026 SEG rates include E.ON Next Export Exclusive (16.5p/kWh fixed for 12 months), Octopus Outgoing Fixed (15.0p/kWh), and Intelligent Octopus Flux—which pays up to 28p–32p/kWh during the 16:00–19:00 evening peak by automatically discharging your GivEnergy or Tesla battery.
To register for any high-rate SEG tariff, you must hold two mandatory statutory documents issued by your installer: (1) an official MCS Installation Certificate (MIS 3002) and (2) your DNO ENA G98 confirmation letter or G99 commissioning approval letter so your supplier can issue an Export MPAN.
